Planet Restaurant at Mount Nelson provided a sophisticated yet relaxed Christmas dinner. Special kudos for the live duo playing jazz classics and jamming it up.

Had a perfect dinner at Waterkloof estate overlooking False Bay. This must be one of my all time high points in the world of wine. Architecture reminds of Tokara, but this is bigger, bolder and better views. Incredible value for money too.

Kalk Bay Books represents everything a book store should: esthetics, smell and feel. One could almost think all the books have been selected based on the beautiful cover art, it is impossible to find an ugly book here. As always foreign books come with a heavy price tag, such shame as eBooks cost the same everywhere.

Love the wooden roof at the Foundry bar. The lights ain’t half bad either.

Visited the meat aging facilities at Local Grill, Parktown North. Finest grain-fed and free range meat that tasted really great. Still: Grillhouse might beat it with an inch or two.

Finally got to visit the Foundry: Kitchen Roastworks Craft Bar in Parktown North. Alas only the bar-side ;) Usual suspects in the craft beer selection (no Devil’s Peak, boo) and very affordable cocktails. Loud as it should be on a Friday!

Sigh. Christmas shopping hysteria is once again lurking behind the corner. Pretty impressive tree at Hyde Park mall though.
